BeeZero will be launching the world’s first fuel cell powered, zero-emission car sharing service in Munich this summer, and a fleet of 50 ix35 Fuel Cell vehicles will be at the center of it all.

The service will run on a zone-based model as the ix35 Fuel Cell fleet will be available in Munich’s city center and surrounding areas such as Schwabing, Haidhausen, Au and Glockenbachviertel.

Just like with conventional car sharing services, BeeZero cars will be booked online or via app – after which consumers will be able to take advantage of the ix35 Fuel Cell’s range of 600 km (372 miles) on a single tank.

“The new BeeZero car sharing offer is pioneering sustainable mobility,” said Thomas A. Schmid, COO at Hyundai Europe. “Featuring the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell, BeeZero will not only be the first car sharing service using hydrogen-powered zero-emission cars, but will also offer comfortable and reliable transportation for the public’s everyday needs.”

As for Dr Christian Bruch, executive board member of Linde AG (who own BeeZero), he expects to “gain valuable information from day-to-day fleet operations which we will use to further develop our hydrogen technologies and to help expand the hydrogen infrastructure.”
