BMW’s special edition releases for their 100th birthday continue with a limited production version of the i3 electric city car for Japan.
However, whereas the i3 MR Porter Edition that was announced in February for the UK did bring some unique features highlighted by the Tuxedo Blue exterior paint with white accents, Japan’s i3 Carbonight Celebration Edition that’s based on the range-extender model adds nothing other than a numbered plate inside.
Everything else you see on the car can be ordered / had on any regular i3, from the 20-inch alloy wheels to the LED headlights and non-metallic ‘Fluid Black’ hue with blue highlights.
To somewhat justify its existence and ‘special edition’ moniker, BMW Japan throws in a Carbon iPhone Cover Case together with Harman / Kardon AURA STUDIO wireless home speaker system plus an offer to install charging equipment for the car at your home for free.
Prices in Japan start from 5,980,000 Yen (a little over $55,300) or about 500,000 (US$4,600) more than the base i3 Rex.
