While the Chiron is enjoying its moment in the limelight, its predecessor, the Veyron, has been recently recalled in two separate campaigns.

The first one covers certain 2006-2010 model year vehicles manufactured between March 10, 2006, to January 17, 2010, and 2010-2011 Veyron Grand Sport, built between September 29, 2009, and June 30, 2010 for an issue with their fuel indicators.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the fuel tank gauge may indicate more fuel than there actually is in the tank, possibly leading to stall and increasing the risk of a crash. Owners of the affected hypercars will be notified by Bugatti and the dealers will replace the fuel tank control unit and upgrade the software, free of charge. A notification schedule has yet to be provided.

In the second campaign, Bugatti recalls certain 2006-2010 Veyrons, made to March 9, 2012, 2010-2012 Veyron Grand Sport assembled between September 29, 2009, and October 14, 2014 and 2011-2013 Veyron Super Sport, build from February 18, 2011, to August 17, 2012, for possible corrosion issues on the plates used when lifting the vehicle, which may detach.

The jacking plates can also separate while driving, becoming a road hazard by striking another vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. As usual, Bugatti will notify owners of these Veyrons and will have dealers rivet and seal the underbody aluminum reference plates, free of charge.
