It’s refreshing to see that Chinese automakers are beginning to have some confidence in themselves instead of copying or trying to get access to others’ intellectual property.
Not that the copycat game is over, but at least some of them are trying their hands on something new and, shall we say, daring that wouldn’t look out of place in any Euro brand’s porfolio.
Chery, in particular, is going to display a new concept at the upcoming Auto China Show that will be held at Beijing starting April 25.
The FV2030 is a study that can best be described as a crossover coupe that does not have any off-road pretentions. Its most distinguishing features are the impressive front fascia with its perforated grille and large air intakes, the extremely slim headlights, the extremely raked windscreen and the curvaceous, sculpted side that blends in quite nicely with the bulged wheel arches.
This being a sketch, we expect more teasers to follow and, at some point, learn more about the Chery concept apart from the fact it’s going to be an EV and feature a 3D, holographic display in the cabin.
Granted, this last one is just for show, but it’ll be interesting to learn if the FV2030 previews a bold production car that’s further down the line. Either that, or it’s pure concept material showing how Chery imagines its models will look like in, say, 2030?
