An Autobianchi A112 Abarth is a pretty rare sight on this side of the Atlantic, with the specific example to be a third generation 1976 model used for racing back in Italy for many years.
The lilliputian Scorpion was converted for road use back in 2010, keeping though a few of its racing modifications. The nimble Abarth is powered by a 70hp 1.0-litre engine which is more than enough to make its driver smile like the Joker.
The car was also repainted in its original Italian Flag Green with a satin black hood and had its original 13-inch Cromodora wheels restored. A similar treatment was followed for the interior, returning it back to its original conditions with a few exemptions, like the OMP racing kill switch on the dashboard. The owner had the roll cage removed but the mounting points are still there.
During its 2010 restoration, the engine was removed and given a full service. The rally-spec close-ratio gearbox is still in place as is a Magneti Marelli front strut tower bar.
With the seller claiming that the car runs and drives well and that the chassis has no major corrosion in its floor, this small Italian should be an absolute riot to drive. The auction is now live over at Bring A Trailer.
