When the first generation BMW 1 Series was launched back in 2004, its controversial styling caused quite a stir, dividing the marque’s aficionados in two camps.

Either way, it was an improvement over the 3-Series Compact hatch, especially as it was more driver-focused, it had its own character, better engines, including a 3.0-litre inline six which boasted no less than 302 HP.

Okay, the 135i was available only in 3-door form, and those who wanted the top of the line 5-door hatchback had to settle with the 130i and its 265 HP, 3.0-litre straight six; but some managed to bypass this inconvenience and do an engine swap – like this guy, for instance.

The result is a compact executive car christened “150i” – as it borrowed the monumental 5.0-litre V10 from the BMW E60 M5. But, believe it or not, the story doesn’t end here; as 500 HP weren’t enough for the quirky-looking hatchback, the powerplant received G-Power’s Bi-Kompressor kit on it, courtesy of KJ-Performance.

That translates into a mind-boggling 750 HP 1-Series, and possibly the most outrageous Bavarian car in existence – although it represents a challenge to put so much power down to the asphalt in wet conditions, as you will see from the video.
