Following the same recipe that created the GT12 last year, the British manufacturer will reportedly roll off a race-focused variant of the V8 Vantage.
Referred to as the GT8, it is billed as the lightest Vantage ever and is ready to launch.
According to Autocar, Aston Martin has already sent invitations to potential buyers, with an early sketch attached.
With the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in mind as a direct rival, the Vantage GT8 will use carbon fiber, aluminum and titanium to keep its weight down and, even if there are no official details on it so far, the British publication claims that its zero to sixty (0-96 km/h) time should take around 4.5 seconds, three tenths of a second faster than the regular version.
Customers will be able to choose either a a seven-speed manual transmission or an SSII automatic. Its starting price will be set at around £170,000 ($241,800).
Aston Martin is believed to produce 150 units of the GT8, with 40 of them being destined for sale in the United Kingdom. Full details are said to be released this week, when the car will be officially unveiled.
