Hearing one of the most known gearheads in the planet actually saying that he doesn’t know what a Hongqi CA770 is makes great sense as these cars are not what you would call popular.

The Hongqi CA770 was something like China’s state limousine, reserved exclusively for the Communist Party’s high-ranking officials. Based on a 1955 Chrysler design (or a Ford design, if you ask Leno), this particular V8-powered limo is one of the only two currently living on US soil, making it one of the rarest vehicles at this side of the planet.

And let’s face it; despite the obvious design references to German and American cars of the era, there is a really cool aura around a car like this. Yes, it might not be as good as other similar cars but driving one of these today must be a special experience.

And that’s even if the drive ends up at the back of a towing truck.
