While Kia says that measuring interior volume using jellybeans is somewhat dramatic, the truth is this “comparison” couldn’t be less fair.
The Kia Soul and Honda Fit belong to two slightly separate categories of vehicles. On one hand, you’ve got a small Korean crossover, and then a sub-compact city car, which makes the Soul’s interior room more of a fact than a feature.
But sure, if all you want to do is to stuff as many jellybeans as you can inside your car and for some reason you had to choose between the Soul and the Fit, then it’s best you take this Kia commercial to heart.
Some Europeans do look at the Fit (Jazz) and think “Mini-MPV” – which was a very common term a few years back within the auto industry, but regardless of how you spin it, these two models have very different purposes about them.
In the States, you can compare them by looking at their price tags, where the Soul’s reads $15,800 and the Fit’s $15,890. You’ll get better fuel economy in the Honda, but you won’t get those semi-rugged crossover looks and you certainly won’t get the same amount of space.
All in all, these are two different types of cars and the Soul should really start picking on somebody its own size.
