There have been numerous occasions during which a second generation of the LFA was brought into discussion and it seems such a model is already in the pipeline.
A new report originating from Japan writes that Toyota’s luxury brand is plotting a successor, which will drop the 4.8-liter V10 or a smaller internal combustion engine backed up by an electric motor.
The engine of choice for the next Lexus LFA will allegedly be a 3.7-liter V8 and total combined output will be close to 800 HP. Apart from a lot more oomph, the hybrid powertrain will also contribute to improved fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions.
Rumored to debut in 2019, at the Tokyo Motor Show, the idea of a new Lexus supercar was officially dismissed a couple of months ago by the firm’s European boss, Alain Uyttenhoven, who said that the company doesn’t “need to replace it to keep that status“. He did not rule it out completely for the future, though: “I’m not saying we won’t do another LFA. I just don’t know.“
