Having seen the new-gen E-Class Sedan earlier this year in Detroit, and with the long wheelbase launched in Beijing, Mercedes-Benz is readying its next variants.
The first will be the E-Class Estate, scooped out in the open in numerous occasions out, and will reportedly be followed by the Coupe over the next few months. The last body style will be the open-top E-Class Cabriolet that’s been caught on camera in a new spy video.
Its front end will be similar to that of the sedan, while the rear should be inspired by its smaller sibling, the C-Class Cabriolet, even though Mercs’ engineers have done their best to conceal its shape under very odd looking camouflage.
With a folding soft top and room for four, the E-Class Cabriolet will have the same four- and six-pot mills as the saloon and chances are it will be topped by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, taken from the AMG GT, AMG C63 and AMG E63, in two forms, 571 PS (563 HP) and 612 PS (604 HP), paired to a 9-speed auto. Rear-wheel drive will be standard and the brand’s 4Matic AWD will be offered as an option, depending on the model and market.
