After Renault rolled out the first official image of the second-gen Koleos, the large SUV has been rendered in range-topping GT guise.
The picture comes courtesy of X-Tomi, who used the Megane GT as inspiration, dropping the chrome trim from the radiator grille, updating the lower part of the bumper and changing the shape of the fog lamps. The “GT” badge sits under the large Renault logo, there is black trim on the lower part of the doors and a new pattern for the alloy wheels.
Sticking to the Koleos moniker instead of the rumored “Maxthon”, the new D-segment SUV rides on the same platform as the Nissan X-Trail and it will share most of its four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, coming in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive layouts. At first, the French will offer it in China, with two petrol mills, 2.0-liter with 150 HP and 2.5-liter with 186 HP, mated to either a 6-speed manual or optional automatic transmission.
The 2017 Renault Koleos is expected to go on sale in selected European markets from next year, with different specs and powertrains. Full details on the SUV will be announced on April 25, during the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, prior to its local launch.
