A federal judge said that Porsche is not liable for the crash that killed Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas back in 2013.
Following a suit filed by the widow of Roger Rodas in which she claimed that Porsche should be held responsible for the lack of several safety features in the Carrera GT that her husband was driving, U.S. District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez said that there was no evidence that the Carrera GT’s suspension failed before the crash as claimed in the lawsuit, according to the Associated Press.
“Plaintiff has provided no competent evidence that Rodas’ death occurred as a result of any wrongdoing on the part of defendant,” Gutierrez wrote.
Paul Walker was riding as a passenger in the red Carrera GT driven by Rodas when the car spun out of control and hit three trees before bursting into flames on a street in Santa Clarita in November 2013.
The ruling is not affecting the other two lawsuits filed against Porsche by Walker’s daughter and father. The attorney of Kristine Rodas said that they will file an appeal against this ruling.
