Some of you may remember the Venucia VOW concept from last year’s Shanghai show; the T90 that had its world premiere today in Beijing is the production version of that car, which had given us a very strong Peugeot-styling vibe at the time.
Comparing the production T90 to the VOW Concept is like likening one’s 20-year old athletic self with the person they’ve become three decades later. The characteristics are there, but the T90’s body has been bloated into something that may be roomier and more practical, but in the process, it lost the stance and dynamic appearance of the original study.
Still, the Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company-owned Venucia brand believes that the liftback crossover model is “an innovative SUV model targeting younger generations who cherish individuality and like to challenge the status quo”.
The eighth production model of the China-only Venucia brand since Nissan launched it back in 2011, will go on sale during the second half of the year offering a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine linked to a standard XTRONIC CVT.
“[The] T90 demonstrates our confidence in the Venucia brand and the high expectations we have for it,” said Zhou Xianpeng, deputy managing director. “It shows the local brand has made a huge leap in its independent product R&D capacity, and it also demonstrates that the Venucia brand and products are shifting towards a more innovative and younger direction.”
