Credited for being the only modern Range Rover to go topless, the Evoque isn’t part of Her Majesty’s fleet

The latter, however, does , include a drop-top SUV made by Land Rover, and it’s a full-size one.

Used by Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, as part of her 90th birthday celebrations, this custom Range Rover had its roof completely removed, allowing the two royals to come in direct contact with people who wanted to wish her a “happy birthday” around the streets of Windsor.

The vehicle features a “world first onboard camera fitted to the interior“, which “captured the route and the celebratory crowds“, as JLR explained, adding that the one-off Range Rover Convertible uses a hybrid powetrain. In stock form, it combines a 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel engine and an electric motor, sending 340 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque to the AWD system through an automatic transmission.

However, this isn’t the first time when Queen Elizabeth II used this particular Range Rover Convertible, which was designed by Land Rover Design and engineered by JLR’s SVO department, as it was inaugurated last year, when Her Majesty presented New Colors to the Royal Welsh Regiment.

The Queen has owned several old and new Land Rovers, Rolls-Royces and Bentleys, including a Bentayga SUV, despite not having a driver’s license – which she doesn’t actually need, since she’s been chauffeured around.
