While the facelifted version of the firm’s electric sedan is believed to be just around the corner, a Costa Mesa-based company is working on the “first stretched Tesla Model S limousine.”

Detailed in a time-lapse video, Big Limos was in charge of cutting this Tesla Model S in two and while no technical data is available, it’s not hard to see what happened here, as the EV became roomier, with an extended wheelbase, extra space between the two doors and a longer roof.

However, before stretching the chassis, the company had to remove the battery pack, which will have to be adapted to the longer wheelbase. It might be an interesting touch to add a bigger battery pack since there is now more room between the two axles, but we cannot tell you yet if this has or will happen.

This isn’t the only “out of the box” project involving a Tesla Model S, as a couple of years ago Newport Convertible Engineering (NCE) received 100 orders from a Chinese investor to create a convertible version of the car and came up with two solutions: a ragtop conversion or a hard tonneau cover, priced at $29,000 and $49,000 respectively, so we can only assume that Big Limos’ job involves more green bills.
