The legendary 911 celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013, so Porsche decide to launch a special edition.
Thus, the 911 50th anniversary was born, carrying a lot of history-heavy style cues along with it and limited to just 1,963 units, marking the year it entered production.
As if the standard 911 wasn’t already a continuous evolution of the primordial 901, the 50th anniversary further emphasized its origins with modern (and reinterpreted) Fuchs wheels, green labeling on the instruments with white pointer needles and silver caps, snazzy fabric pattern that evokes the ‘Pepita’ tartan design from the 1960s on the center section of the leather trimmed sport seats, and a plethora of 911 50’ badges scattered around the vehicle’s body – among other things.
So, as you can imagine, with a $124,100 starting price and available in limited numbers, the 50th anniversary was – and still is – a very exclusive automobile; but how much cash would you need to get one nowadays?
This one, #44, all black lacquer and black leather / fabric combination Pepita, equipped with the Burmester audio system and glass sliding-tilting roof – besides the standard 911 Powerkit, the Sport Chrono package, PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) and sport exhaust – is offered for sale by dealer Hoefnagels for €209,500 ($236,357). That’s almost double its initial value, and more than a brand new 911 Turbo or 911 GT3 RS, even if it has 4,184 Km (2,600 miles) on the clock.
