Lucky doesn’t even begin to describe what happened here after a big rig plowed through a car in south-west Victoria, Australia.
As the video starts, you can see a woman parked by the side of the road, looking back at a fallen tree, and the owner of the dashcam stopping his truck to exchange pleasantries. It’s not everyday your road is blocked by mother nature.
During their conversation, a genuinely horrifying scene occurs as a semi-trailer comes hurtling around the corner, and the rest is, well, you need to watch for yourselves.
Thankfully, and downright miraculously, nobody was injured, though Ms Oliver (the owner of the Jetta) did tell Nine News that she was afraid she was going to die.
“I’m about to be killed. That’s what went through my head,” she said. “I honestly don’t know how close it got to me. I just ran. Thinking I was about to be killed I raced into the blackberries and heard the Big Crunch.”
She even showed sympathy for the incoming truck driver, saying that “he was amazing, because he managed not to run into the other truck, even though he did run into me. But he thought he was going to kill someone. He didn’t do anything wrong, the log was across the road you couldn’t avoid the log.”
According to the Herald Sun, Mark Tanis, the man behind the dashcam, also thought he was about to die when he saw the out-of-control rig coming towards him.
“Where do I go what am I going to do? I pulled up to make sure she was all right and the next minute it all happened, the truck came around the corner and I didn’t know what to do,” said the man. “I’m assuming she must’ve jumped into the scrub because when I looked out the window afterwards she came running out from behind his truck. So yeah she must have dived off at the last minute. If I had’ve been further forward I probably wouldn’t be here now or I would’ve been pretty badly damaged but yeah, I think we’re all very lucky.”
