Following its world premiere made in New York last month, Mercedes-AMG has dropped the first trailer with the new E 43 AMG.
With the open road ahead and 401 PS (396 HP) sitting at its disposal, produced by the 3.0-liter bi-turbo V6 engine, the 3-pointed star’s performance sedan is the current range-topper of the series, until the E 63 AMG will show its face over the next few months, powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 in two outputs: 571 PS (563 HP) and 612 PS (604 HP).
Channeling its output to the rear-biased AMG Performance 4MATIC four-wheel drive system is a standard 9-speed automatic transmission, helping the E 43 AMG go from naught to sixty (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds and up to a top speed electronically capped at 155 mph (250 km/h). Claimed fuel consumption is 28.34 mpg US (8.3 lt/100 km) and CO2 emissions stand at 189 g/km.
Changes performed to the executive car include an improved chassis, a batch of discreet styling elements with an aerodynamic role, making it look more aggressive, and 19-inch alloy wheels, to set itself apart furthermore over the standard versions of the E-Class Sedan, joined by interior tweaks such as flat-bottom multi-function sports steering wheel, AMG instrument cluster and red stitching.
