Audi pays tribute to the R8 LMS that won last year’s 24 Hours Nurburgring with a new special edition of its flagship supercar.
The R8 “Selection 24h”, is based on the range-topper V10 Plus and will be built in a limited production run of 24,
The technical package comprises of dynamic steering, adaptive damper control, magnetic ride and laser lighting. Setting it apart further more is the tricolor paint finish, with Suzuka gray as the basic color and Mythos black and Misano red highlights, evoking the R8 LMS.
It also sports gloss carbon fiber-made front spoiler, rear wing, diffuser and side mirror caps, while the sideblades have the matt-finish “R8 24h” logo. The tailpipes are finished in black and the car sits on 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, with a 10-spoke Y pattern.
Inside, it has full-leather upholstery and trim in rotor gray color, Alcantara headlining, gloss-finish carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) air vents and extended inlays for the surrounding of the Audi Virtual Cockpit, along with the “R8 24h” logo, illuminated door sill trims and a serial number from 1 to 24 for each of the limited-edition R8s.
There are no changes at the oily bits, which means customers get the same 610 PS (601 HP), 5.2-liter V10 that’s good for a 3.2-second 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint and a 330 km/h (205 mph) top speed.
Audi will debut the R8 Selection 24h in the paddock at the 24 Hours Nurburgring. Orders can be placed starting today (May 10, 2016), for a starting price of €229,000 ($261,000) in Germany.
