With less than two weeks left for the debut of the new A5 and S5 Coupes on June 2, Audi is boosting their online campaign with new animated pictures revealing bits and pieces of the car.
There’s nothing really new, though, as the teasers simply confirm what we already knew about the car’s design through our spy photos over the past year, and which sums up to a typical Audi-style evolution of the A5’s exterior design and the adoption of the new A4’s interior highlighted by Ingolstadt’s fully-digital Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster. Do note that the cropped picture of the dash with the dancing Elvis figurine and the auxiliary instruments is from an older Audi, not the new A5.
All next-gen A5s, including the Coupe that will come out first, followed by the Convertible and the five-door Sportback within the next year, are based on the B9 components of the latest A4 riding on the VW Group’s MLB Evo platform.
Powertrains will closely mirror those of the A4, with North America getting a gasoline 2.0-liter turbocharged four in the entry-level model and a turbocharged 349hp (354PS) 3.0-liter TFSI V6 in the S5. Europeans will also get a selection of diesels.
Further up the line and down the road, the range will be crowned by an RS5 with a turbocharged (and possibly, electro-charged) V6 with around 500 horses to compete with the Mercedes-AMG C63 and BMW M4.
