DMC’s new Ferrari-based project proves we’ll see more and more modified 488 GTBs.

Like we mentioned before, the model’s new twin-turbocharged layout, which pumps 670 PS (661 HP) from the 3.9-litre V8 in stock form, lends itself much better to aftermarket specialists than the previous generations of mid-engine Ferraris.

By merely re-programming the ECU, the 488 GTB will offer a power increase equivalent to adding a pair of turbochargers to the 458, for example. Moreover, the technical modifications brought to the former, could be reverted to factory-standard with much more ease.

The latest aftermarket company to toy with the 488’s power output was DMC, and the tuner added a visual body-kit while it was at it. Named the DMC 488 GTB Orso, the project doesn’t take full advantage of the engine’s capabilities, as the engineers started subtle with a Stage 1 kit. The result? 788 PS (777 HP) and 865 NM (638 ft-lb) of torque – figures resulted after replacing the standard exhaust system and performing an ECU flash.

On the visual side, DMC added what they call “a sword and a spoiler”, supported by vertical fins, for the front bumper, new aero-skirts for the side, and a revised diffuser and a new rear wing at the back. Although previewed in rendered imagines, these aerodynamic enhancements support the newly created engine power.

In the interior, every 488 GTB Orso will be tailored individually for each client, using an array of Italian leather and carbon fiber. DMC will also offer a free iPhone case, in the same color of the car.
