The Korean company announced the hiring of former Bentley designer SangYup Lee as the Vice President of Styling at the Hyundai Design Center.
Korean-born SangYup Lee is responsible for cars like the Bentley Bentayga and EXP 10 Speed Six concept, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray concept.
“The innovative design and surprising growth of Hyundai Motor has always made me proud as a Korean while I worked overseas”, said Lee. “Now, I want to contribute in creating world-leading automobile designs for both Hyundai Motor and the Genesis brand.”
Lee will be responsible of design strategies and directions and lead design innovations in areas of interior and exterior design, color and materials of Hyundai Motor and Genesis with Senior Vice President Luc Donckerwolke.
“Vice President Lee has proven himself as one of the world’s best automobile designers in the global platform. His design philosophy to pursue new challenges and innovations matches the DNA of Hyundai Motor,” said Donckerwolke in the company’s statement.
Lee and Donckerwolke will work towards making Genesis a true protagonist among other premium car brands. The brand currently offers the G90 and G80 executive salloons, with future plans involving the introduction of the compact G70 sedan to rival the likes of the BMW 3-Series.
