Following the official confirmation made by the Prancing Horse’s new CEO, Sergio Marchionne, fresh data on the LaFerrari Spider points towards an official unveil next year.

Citing one private broker who claims to be able to source a brand-new LaFerrari Spider, Autocar reports that the drop-top will celebrate its public debut in 2017 and assumes it will stay true to the brand’s recent convertibles by adopting a folding hard-top, though a removable panel is not out of the question either.

Whatever Ferrari might choose, the coupe’s carbon fiber chassis rigidity should ensure no loss in torsional stiffness, which means that a very similar, if not exactly the same sprint time from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) is expected at below the 3-second mark, and an acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in just over 7 seconds.

Said source claims that the limited edition LaFerrari Spider will cost €3.5 million ($3.89 million) before taxes, which is less than the €5.1 million ($5.57 million) asked for an example listed for sale earlier this month. Unlike the coupe, which was produced in 499 units, the Spider will be even more exclusive, with previous data indicating that just 70 units will be manufactured.
