There’s a new report from Germany indicating that Mercedes-Benz’s new E-Class Estate is just a couple of weeks from its official debut.
MB Passion Blog writes that the second addition to the 3-pointed star’s executive vehicle family – if we don’t count the Chinese market-only E-Class long wheelbase, will be revealed on June 6 before its motorshow debut in Paris this fall.
Softening its predecessor’s somewhat boxy shape is said to slightly affect the cargo capacity, which is expected to stand at “at least 1,800 liters (64 cubic feet)”, over the current model’s 1,950 liters (68.8 cubic feet) with the rear seats folded down. Boot capacity may drop, but the rear passengers will sit more comfortable than ever, as the new E-Class Estate is believed to benefit from a slightly longer wheelbase.
The engine lineup will be identical to the sedan and will eventually include the range-topping E63 AMG Estate, with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 571 PS (563 HP) in base form and 612 PS (604 HP) in “S” trim, paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
