The only Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution converted for street use has exchanged hands over the weekend, at RMSothebys auction in Monaco.
Estimated to fetch between €2.7 and €3 million ($3.05-3.39 million equivalent), chassis number GT1 993-117 from 1997 managed to sell for €2,772,000 ($3,133,220) to an anonymous bidder, who will get to enjoy the ex-racer’s 3,164 cc six-cylinder engine, producing 600+ HP, and its racing heritage that counts the Daytona 24 Hours and the Canadian GT Championship.
The most expensive car sold at the auction was a 1951 Ferrari 340 America Barchetta by Touring that went for €7,280,000 ($8,228,660), followed by a 1966 275 GTS by Pininfarina, which scored €1,792,000 ($2,025,520).
Other vehicles sold in the 7-figure zone were a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing and a 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter Cabriolet by Vignale, fetching €1,232,000 ($1,392,540) and €1,176,000 ($1,329,240), respectively.
Highly appraised classics that failed to sell included a 1968 Ferrari 275 GTS/4 NART Spider by Scaglietti, estimated to go between €19,000,000 ($21,475,900) and €23,000,000 ($25,997,100), a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider by Scaglietti (€2.4-2.8 million/$2.7-3.2million), a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTS by Pininfarina (€2.1-2.4 million/$2.3-2.7 million) and a 1964 Ferrari 250 GT/L Berlinetta Lusso by Scaglietti (€1.55-1.8 million/$1.75-2 million)).
