To attract customers, you need to convince them that you’re better than the opposition, which in this case means the likes of the Golf, all-new Astra and the Focus, all of which are having a ridiculously hard time keeping up with the Megane GT in this clip.
Renault claims It’s all thanks to its 4Control all-wheel steering system, which has been fitted to a Megane for the first time.
The system calculates and adjusts the steering angle of the rear axle 100 times per second, turning the rear wheels in the opposite direction to those at the front – as long as you’re doing under 80 km/h (50 mph) in Sport mode, or less than 60 km/h (37 mph) otherwise. Go over these speeds and the 4Control system will turn the rear wheels in the same direction as the front ones.
This commercial is aimed largely at customers living in Germany who can now purchase the all-new GT at a €3,100 discount until August 31.
While you can certainly make a case for the new Megane being more attractive than its direct competitors, there is one final car Renault thinks might be in trouble – and an iconic sports coupe at that.
