Aimed exclusively at Australians and created to celebrate 50,000 sales of the WRX locally, the new Subaru WRX Special Edition has seen daylight for the first time.
It’s based on the WRX Premium version and starts from $46,890 AUD ($34,407 USD) for the manual and an extra $2,000 AUD ($1,468 USD) for the automatic, offering a five-color choice for the exterior, a sports body kit, WRX sports mesh grille, self-leveling LED headlights, fog lights on both ends, high beam assist, electric sunroof, shark fin antenna and 18-inch black BBS wheels.
Inside, the limited edition WRX has a 7-inch touchscreen, Harmon/Kardon audio system, satellite navigation, Bluetooth, audio streaming, voice command, auxiliary Jack and USB connections, 8-way power driver’s seat, rearview camera and smart key with push-start ignition. Subaru has also added partial leather seats with red accents, STI style door trims with red stitching, STI gear knob, red-ringed dual-zone air-con dials and red stitching on the MFD visor.
Power comes from the stamdard 2.0-liter direct injected turbocharged boxer engine, capable of producing 264 HP and 350 Nm (258 pound-feet) of torque, connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a Sports Lineatronic CVT. Only 200 units of the WRX special edition will be produced.
