The ‘Ring-conquering GTI Clubsport S was joined at the Worthersee festival by VW’s apprentice-made Golf GTI Heartbeat.

Created to celebrate 40 years of the Golf GTI, the unique hot hatch eclipses the S on horsepower, thanks to its 400 PS (394 HP) output.

Full specs have yet to be released, but the one-off stands out with its reflex silver metallic paint and contrasting dark grey foil on the roof and front end. An individual high-gloss body kit sets the Heartbeat apart furthermore, along with the 20-inch BBS aluminum rims wrapped in wide tires.

The study has the same folding bucket seats as the Clubsport S, with crystal grey embroidered “40” emblem on the headrests and the honeycomb perforations with red background on the backrests, which can also be found on the door inserts. The rear bench and luggage space have been replaced with a high-end sound system, with 1,360 watts from seven speakers and special HiFi system with LED lighting and engraved glass covers.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Heartbeat is the ninth project of VW Vocational Training and is signed by five women and seven men who are training to be mechatronics technicians, process technicians specializing in plastics and rubber engineering, vehicle paint technicians and technical product designers.

Volkswagen has a second show car for this year’s Austrian gathering, the Golf R Variant Performance 35, with 340 PS (335 HP), with multi-layer paintwork applied by hand (quartzite/tornado red), vented bonnet, airbrushed roof liner inside with LED stars and a high-end 12-speaker sound system with 2,500 watts. The study also features an electrically retractable cargo floor and a “P 35” child’s run bike, wearing a matching color scheme.
