After teasing us with their latest ad campaign for the brand new Volvo V90, the Swedish automaker has finally released a video depicting the similarities between its own journey and that of footballing star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The video is called Prologue and it tells Zlatan’s story, from his birthplace to the various teams he’s played for. Of course, the main thing is how Zlatan became a star by doing things his own way, similar to how Volvo envision their own models.
Interestingly enough, Zlatan even goes as far as to talk about how he “listened but not always followed”, which is an appropriate way of describing the time he spent with FC Barcelona between 2009 and 2011.
“I’m happy to be working with Volvo Cars again. I’ve seen the new cars, I’ve driven and tested them. And I think they’re fantastic. Just like me, Volvo have gone their own way and dared to think differently. The previous campaign we did was good, but this time it’s Made by Zlatan,” said the former PSG star.
If for some reason the soundtrack sounds a bit familiar in tone, it’s because composer Hans Zimmer was the man behind it. Zimmer has worked on movies such as Interstellar, Inception, Pirates of the Caribbean and Gladiator.
“I’ve always been a fan of Swedish icons such as Abba and Zlatan, so doing this project with Volvo Cars and Zlatan made me experience the best of Sweden. Working together has been truly rewarding,” added the academy award-winning composer.
