Over the years, the Fast and the Furious franchise has evolved into a complex saga that almost abandoned its humble, street racing beginnings.
Even though automobiles still played a major role in the latest installments, the main focus has switched to other aspects of the story, transforming the vehicles into (extra)ordinary tools used to achieve certain goals.
But the upcoming Furious 8 (or #F8) movie seems to concentrate on bringing the petrolhead spirit back, as a live “sneak peek” of the set showcased the most incredible gathering of automobiles in the series history. And all were destined for a single scene.
The 16-minute video showcases everything from hot rods, to muscle cars, to high-end exotics, from a twin-turbo Lamborghini Gallardo, to Nissan’s IDx NISMO concept car – flown straight from Japan with an expert by its side. The estimated value of the entire line-up, according to Dennis McCarthy, exceeds $17 million (unsurprisingly, as the IDx alone is valued at $2 million).
It better be a phenomenal piece of cinematographic history, but until its official release, we’re left with this a presentation and a collection of the rare, stunning vehicles.
