Mercedes-Benz is forging ahead with the development of its next E-Class Cabrio testing camouflaged prototypes on public roads.
The fourth member of the new E-Class line-up (if you don’t include the upcoming CLS and China’s LWB sedan) after the already unveiled sedan and estate, and the soon to be revealed Coupe, will mirror the design of the latter swapping its metal roof for a folding soft top that will be available in different colors.
Inside, the dashboard will be identical to the other E-Class versions. However, the rear bench, which accommodates three passengers on the sedan and estate, will be dropped in favor of a two individual seat layout
You won’t find any surprises under the hood either, as the same four- and six-pot mills from the above mentioned models will make their way under the hood, while the most powerful version, the AMG E63 Convertible, will use the Merc’s 4-liter twin-turbo V8, in two outputs: 571 PS (563 HP) and 612 PS (604 HP), mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
