Announced today at the Wicked Big Meet Subaru fan festival in Stafford Springs, the new BRZ special will only be made in 500 pieces and sold exclusively in the States.
Subaru’s coupe has just received a facelift for the 2017 MY, and the Series.Yellow is obviously a limited edition that will hype the launch of the new model and, of course, offer bragging rights to its buyers.
Starting with the Limited version equipped with the Performance Package the Series.Yellow features four-piston front and dual-piston rear calipers and new rotors by Brembo that, according to Subaru, “give a significant boost in stopping power, fade resistance and pedal feel”. Sachs Performance dampers offer improved handling and stability and apart from the striking yellow paint, there are also 17-inch black alloys.
In the cabin, there’s black leather and Alcantara upholstery with yellow (naturally…) contrasting stitching and a yellow BRZ logo embroidered on the front seatbacks.
The rest is standard 2017 BRZ (and Toyota 86) issue, meaning 205 HP for the six-speed manual and 5 HP less for the auto transmission, a revised and reinforced chassis, re-calibrated electronic stability control system and some subtle cosmetic tweaks on the bodywork and interior.
Deliveries won’t start until 2017, at a yet undisclosed price, but we presume Subaru of America will have no problem shifting the yellow special. Even if it doesn’t have the power its chassis, fans and the press corps have been crying out for since its launch.
