Whether it’s actually itemized or not, everyone has their bucket list: the things we want to do before we leave this world. One item on Jay Leno’s list was to ride in the Hemi Under Glass. And he got to do exactly that for this latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. But things didn’t quite go according to plan.
The Hemi Under Glass was a show car based on the Plymouth Barracuda, but instead of keeping the engine up front where you’d usually find it, Hurst put the Hemi V8 engine at the back, under a glass canopy. With 2,500 horsepower on tap, the unique muscle car would pop wheelies at the drop of a hat.
Bob Riggle still drives it just as he did some 50 years ago. Now 80 years old, he met up with Jay and his crew at Irwindale Speedway to show off what the vintage stunt car does best. We don’t want to give away the ending, so let’s just say that Jay got more than he bargained for, and so did Riggle.
