With so much power channeled to the rear wheels and a special electronic mode designed specifically for tail-happiness, the Ford Focus RS is one of the easiest cars to drift.
Heck, even this writer managed to circle the skidpad sideways upon the model’s launch in Spain. It’s so easy, they say, that even your mother could drift it. But is that really the case? As in, literally?
That’s what the gents over at Carfection set out to answer. So host Chris Goy headed out to the Castle Combe circuit in Wiltshire, UK, (blissfully drenched in rain), along with a Focus RS, an engineer from Ford, and his own mother Hilary.
The idea was to see if she, a classics teacher in her sixties and not very fond of driving, could get the hot hatch going sideways. We don’t want to spoil the surprise, so you’ll have to watch the video below to find out how the Goys succeeded. But suffice it to say that everyone was happy when it was over.
