The latest crash test session conducted by Euro NCAP has seen the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Seat Ateca and Volkswagen Tiguan all earn a five-star safety rating.
Overall ‘Good’ ratings were achieved by the Alfa Romeo Giulia in the frontal offset deformable barrier, frontal full width, lateral impact and whiplash rear impact, while the driver’s chest and right leg protection were rated ‘Adequate’ in the frontal offset. The Alfa scored a 98 percent rating in the Adult Occupant category, 81 percent in Child Occupant Safety, 69 percent in Pedestrian Safety and 60 percent in Safety Assist.
Seat’s first ever SUV, the Ateca, performed well earning an overall five-star safety rating, scoring 93 percent in Adult Occupant, 84 percent in Child Occupant, 71 percent in Pedestrian and 60 percent in the Safety Assist categories. Its biggest concern was for the rear passenger dummy’s chest in the frontal full width test, with protection was noted as ‘Marginal’, while the driver’s chest protection was rated as Adequate in the same test and in the frontal offset deformable barrier.
The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan is a 5-star choice in terms of safety too. It scored 96 percent in Adult Occupant, 84 percent in Child Occupant, 72 percent in Pedestrian and 68 percent in Safety Assist segments. Its overall ratings were Good, except for the driver and passenger dummies’ chest in the frontal offset test, which were noted as Adequate, while the rear passenger’s chest protection in the frontal full width was rated as Marginal.
