One of the 60 pre-production Ferrari 348 TBs supplied to dealers will hit the auction block in less than a month.
Produced in 1990 and setting itself apart from the regular examples with the rear-mounted battery, rear black-finished prancing horse and red painted bonnet underside, the supercar marked a new era for vehicles made in Maranello, as it replaced the traditional steel tube chassis with a stiffer monocoque structure with tubular rear subframe.
Delivered new on February 1 of the same year to Verona Italy, the Ferrari 348 TB, whose suffix stands for transverse gearbox and Berlinetta body, ended up in the possession of a member of the “Automotoclub Storico Italiano”, a respected car club in the European country. Purchased in 2015 by the vendor, it was sent to Toni Auto of Maranello for a full recommission of the engine, which was removed, dismantled, machined and cleaned before being put back in.
Work carried out can be proved with an €8,000 ($8,860) bill within the history file and the supercar is also Ferrari Classiche certified, accompanied by a complete set of official Ferrari luggage, tools, jack and full leather book pack. It will go under the hammer on July 30, at SilverstoneAuctions, and with just 2,500 km (1,553 miles) indicated by its odometer, it’s expected to fetch between £105,000 and £125,000 ($140,000-$167,000).
