Sergio Marchionne has already confirmed that an open-top LaFerrari is in the works, and it might have just been previewed by a scale model built by Kane&Co.
The $430 model seems to be an accurate reproduction of what the Spider version of the hybrid hypercar will look like, though it could just be someone playing around with imaging software, so we won’t commit to it being legit just yet.
Its official reveal date remains unknown. Previous reports indicate it will premiere sometime next year. It will be also be much more exclusive than the coupe, which had a run of 499 units. Some reports suggest that 150 copies will be rolled out, each priced at €3.5 million ($3.89 million), and that all of them may have been spoken for already.
Apart from losing its top, the rest of the LaFerrari will, in all likelihood, remain unchanged. The 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine and electric motor used on the LaFerrari coupe has a total output 963 PS (950 HP) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque, channeled to the rear axle through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Despite coming with a chopped roof, the loss of torsional stiffness will probably be negligible thanks to the very rigid carbon fiber chassis, so handling should not be affected. The same stands for the weight, since no serious reinforcements should be needed, thus we presume performance will be identical.
