While this well-contained London flash flood doesn’t hold a candle to what happened in Houston two months ago, it still posed enough of a threat for what looks like a very ignorant driver.
The flood occurred on June 7th in London, specifically on Wallington High Street, where several cars ended up being swallowed by the suddenly formed waters. One of those cars was this blue Vauxhall Zafira whose driver thought it would be a good idea to proceed as if the worst that could happen would have been spraying water on bystanders.
He (or she) should have gotten a clue after seeing that F30 BMW 3-Series driver change their mind about venturing into those uncharted waters (pun intended). So what obviously happened is that the MPV put up as much of a fight as it could but was eventually scooped up and started floating in front of onlookers who were left shaking their heads.
You can hear somebody in the background ask “Why would you go for that? What were you doing?”, followed by another man stating that there was no way that Zafira was getting through – but in a more colorful way, let’s say.
Judging by how deep that water looks, we’re thinking maybe you could have gotten through in something heavy and with very high ground clearance like a Hummer, maybe even a Range Rover. But a family MPV? Not very likely.
