Fiat has made Diesel editions of the 500 before, but this one is special. The example you see here is dubbed the 555RR, and was specially commissioned from Lapo Elkann‘s Garage Italia Customs by Renzo Rosso – founder of Diesel jeans and president of the OTB Group in which it belongs.
The 555RR is based on the 500C with its opening fabric roof, but stands out with an array of custom enhancements. The gloss black paintjob is accented with a silver-tone glitter and offset by a broad, tone-on-tone matte stripe. The grille and alloys are trimmed in red, with Swarovski crystals framing the head- and tail lamps.
Inside, the seats and roof are upholstered in black leather with black denim details, pleated and laced leather trim, a zippered leather glove compartment, with the gear lever emblazoned with the word “Enjoy” that’s Rosso’s signature sign-off.
Garage Italia didn’t disclose which engine spec the car is based on, but it would be fitting if it were packing a diesel. The 1.3-liter M-Jet is currently the only oil-burner in the range, offering 95 horsepower for a sedate 0-62 time of 10.7 seconds.
