“Need” is a relative term; did Jaguar need to make the F-Type? Maybe. But once it did – especially in eight-cylinder supercharged R spec – did it really need to make it even faster, harder and more powerful? Probably not, but we’re glad it did.
We’re referring, of course, to the new Jaguar F-Type SVR, the ne plus ultra of the British carmaker’s lineup. It adopts the most potent, 575-horsepower version of the company’s signature 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the Project 7 roadster, but is available in greater numbers, a more practical application, and both coupe and convertible bodystyles.
Call it the best of both… make that all worlds, capable of reaching 200 miles per hour and setting your soul on fire in the process.
