Jeff Gordon may be moving from the driver’s seat to the chair next to Kelly Ripa on your TV.
Gordon is rumored to be among the front-runners for the seat next to Ripa on what’s currently known as Live! with Kelly – a long-running American daytime talk show that was home to Regis Philbin and, most recently, former football player Michael Strahan – the website TVLine reported Friday. Strahan abruptly left this spring for a full-time spot on ABC’s Good Morning America and the hunt is on this summer for a successor.
After retiring from full-time racing in 2015, Gordon has stayed on TV doing race analysis for Fox NASCAR. And even before his retirement, he was seen in Pepsi ads in 2013 and 2014. If he lands the gig next to Ripa, however, Gordon will most likely spend most of the time talking to celebrities about their newest movie or tell-all book.
Below is Gordon’s 2015 appearance on the show when it was still called Live! with Kelly and Michael. As much as I’m for more car guys on TV, I’m still rooting for Anderson Cooper to take the chair.
