Mercedes finally released the AMG GT R from the wild enclosure it was bred aka the Green Hell, and now it’s showing off all the vehicle’s performance add-ons.
The Nurburgring was to the AMG GT what Weapon X was for Wolverine and Deadpool; a facility that experimented and enhanced the automobile (in this case with race-car performance and abilities), transforming it into a very capable track-weapon.
Described as a street-legal race car, the AMG GT R comes with improved aerodynamics, thanks to the concealed lightweight carbon active aero elements, which change the airflow considerably, producing the venture effect in the process (reducing the lift on the front-axle as a result).
Inspired visually by the GT3 race car, the AMG GT R features chunkier air intakes, a large wing, and double rear diffuser. It’s green hue, was deliberately chosen to resemble the jungle it has grew in; the place that was responsible for transforming it into a beast.
A beast that weighs just 1,554 kg (3,428 lbs), and growls from its 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine that boasts 585 PS (577 HP) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Numbers that take it from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds, before maxing out at 318 km/h (198 mph).
Judging by Lewis Hamilton’s grin in the promo, the car should be something else, and we don’t think it’s the contract he has with Mercedes making him smile.
