If you’re even slightly familiar with the Ghostbusters, then you’ve also probably heard about their very popular means of transportation, the Ecto-1.
If there’s nothing strange in your neighborhood and you decide you need a ride somewhere on July 1-2, using Lyft might give you the chance to ride in Ghostbuster style, as long as you live in either NYC, LA, Boston, San Francisco or Washington DC that is.
Originally, the car they used was a 1959 Cadillac professional chassis built by Miller-Meteor, big enough to fit the entire team together with their Proton Packs, Ecto Googles, PKE Meters and multiple traps.
The new Ecto-1, set to debut in the new Ghostbusters movie on July 15th, is a 1989 Cadillac Brougham and so far, opinions have been split over how good of a choice this was for a replacement. It’s certainly not as iconic as the original, but there’s still no confusing it for anything else other than something you take to a ghost fight.
This isn’t the first time Lyft is offering their users the chance to ride in an iconic movie car. Back in October of last year, the company teamed up with Verizon to give people free 15 minute rides in a DeLorean around New York City.
