With a matte black paint and red, yellow and blue accents scattered across its body, this P1 GTR’s color scheme was inspired by that of James Hunt’s F1 helmet.
The car, on display at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, also has the number 11, which was Hunt’s number throughout his career, in which he managed winning the Drivers title back in 1976.
McLaren has already signed this P1 GTR up for the Hillclimb, with former F1 driver Bruno Senna himself behind the wheelr
Color scheme aside, the P1 GTR James Hunt Edition doesn’t differ from a regular P1 GTR. It features the same 987 HP (1000 PS) hybrid powertrain, consisting of a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and an electric motor.
In total, that’s 84 HP (85 PS) more than the non-GTR McLaren P1 and 50 kg (110 lbs) less – resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 687 HP (696 PS) per tonne.
Sprinting to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes less than 2.8 seconds, and 60 mph (96 km/h) takes just 2.4 seconds. Top speed is somewhere around 225 mph (362 km/h).
