Want to check out the most hardcore McLarens? Then the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month is the place to be.
That’s where the British F1 team turned exotic automaker will showcase an array of its most extreme models under the blue skies of the Earl of March’s estate in southern England.
At this year’s festival, McLaren will mark the dynamic debut of the new 570S Sprint. The track-focused edition of the company’s new “entry-level” sports car was announced together with the GT4 racing version just a few months ago, taking the 570S coupe in the opposite direction from the softer 570GT we drove recently. We’ve still yet to receive full details on the Sprint, but we can expect a stripped-out interior, stiffer suspension, and more aggressive aero to be part of the mix.
The 570S Sprint won’t be alone at the event, though. The team from Woking will also head over with the P1 GTR (the track-bound version of the hybrid hypercar), the sold-out 675LT Spider, and the celebratory 650S Can-Am edition.
Of course, McLaren being McLaren, it’s also bringing some racing machinery along, including the 1970 M8D Can-Am, the M15 Indy racer from the same year, and Alain Prost’s ’86 MP4-2C championship-winning single-seater. That roster alone would be enough to make for one heck of a spectacle, but that’s just one manufacturer out of the dozens participating in what promises to be an action-packed FoS this summer.
