Of all the tempting metal (and carbon fiber) that McLaren is bringing to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week, the one we’re looking forward to seeing the most is the new 570S Sprint. It’s set to be revealed in full on Wednesday, but before it is, the British outfit is giving us a taste of things to come with these latest teaser images.
Based on the 570S Coupe that forms the core of McLaren’s new Sports Series, the Sprint takes the opposite approach from the luxury-oriented 570GT. This latest version of the supercar will be limited to use on the track, with “power and torque levels,” we’re told, that have been “optimised to ensure the ultimate levels of driver engagement… and the best levels of noise, too.”
Just what that increase in output will amount to, we’ll have to wait to find out. But from what we can see so far, the 570S Sprint looks like it’ll shape up to be a real hoot to drive – similar to the competition-spec 570S GT4, but not bound by the rules of any specific racing series.
Joining the 570S Sprint will be the 650S Can-Am and 675LT coupe from the company’s Super Series, and two examples of the P1 GTR – including one that’s been converted to road-going spec by McLaren’s longtime partner Lanzante.
