Word on the street has it that Audi is just about ready to wrap up the development of the new generation A8, and this fresh image helps us understand how it could look like.
With the BMW 7-Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Jaguar XJ in its sight, Ingolstadt’s flagship will carry the brand’s signature grille, with chromed horizontal bars and Matrix headlights and will sport sharper lines across its new body, some of which have been inspired by the Prologue Concept.
Making use of the MLB Evo platform, the 2018 A8 will be lighter and more agile over the current model. It will also benefit from improved interior dimensions without a significant increase in its overall footprint. Audi’s Virtual Cockpit will be found on the options list, along with the autonomous driving mode and other features.
Petrol and diesel V6s should be available at launch, while the 4.0-liter TDI V8 from the new SQ7 might be optioned in. Moreover, the range-topping flagship sedan is tipped to use the 6.0-liter W12 from the Bentley Bentayga and an E-Tron version could take on the Tesla Model S.
