Opel/Vauxhall’s compact RWD coupe concept is still a possibility for production, but its styling cues will definitely find their way into future models.
The company’s design chief Mark Adams spoke to Autocar saying that details such as the front grille and the flowing lines of the GT’s bodywork are going to “inform other production models”.
The first model to benefit from this change of direction will most likely be the new Opel/Vauxhall Insignia which is due for reveal towards the end of the year.
The company still hasn’t decided if they are going to put the GT concept into production, with a previous report saying that Opel could use the rear differential and suspension bits off the Mokka SUV to engineer a RWD platform for the production version.
“We’re still looking at it, but for production we have a very busy next few years and making a small coupé a priority will be difficult,” said Vauxhall managing director Rory Harvey to the British publication.
And as a bonus, Evo magazine released a video which takes us for a tour around the little sports coupe concept, reminding us while we liked it so much in the first place.
What do you think? Should Opel/Vauxhall enter that portion of the market?
