With the help of Codemasters’ F1 2016 game, Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo takes us on a very insightful lap of the Baku street circuit.
The lap starts with the long straight before arriving at Turn 1 which is rather “tight”, according to the Aussie driver.
Ricciardo also points out the slow, 90-degree corners that seem to dominate much of the track’s first sector, but it doesn’t take long until the virtual Red Bull arrives at another long straight, which is where Mercedes should still have a slight edge.
The F1 star touches on the game’s graphics as well, saying they’re so good he could “probably plan what shops to go to after the race,” which is of course a major shout out to Codemasters and the work they put in with this latest installment of their Formula 1 game.
At one point, the RBR reaches a very tight section that makes Ricciardo say that somebody will crash there – hopefully not him. Ironically, during the first (real-life) practice session, the Red Bull driver crashed his car in the very next corner, clipping the barrier with his right wheels and damaging the rear of the car.
The video ends with another go-around on the start-finish straight, which really looks incredibly lengthy, so we’re really looking forward to seeing how Ferrari and Renault engines handle it.
Moreover, there’s a second video showing the AMG-powered official Medical Car driving its own lap of the Baku Street Circuit, except this one is in real life.
